Detail Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival Paro: Welcome on arrival at Paro international airport by your local tour executive and team. straight drive to hotel for the arrival refreshment and  after brief fresh up begins the orientation tour to  Paro Ringpung Dzong, Drugyal Dzong and Kichu temple. Experience the sights and sound of Paro town after the day program. Settle in the hotel after the dinner.

Day 2 Tiger Nest Hike: Early breakfast in the hotel and drive to north of Paro at the base from where the excursion to Tiger Nest begins. The hiking trail ascend up to 1000m from the basement and gives a feeling of being on a real trek. Besides, the hike also offers breathtaking views of valley, hills and mountains and enjoy every bit of moment.

Day 3 Paro/ Haa/ Yathong : Early hotel check our and drive to Haa en route Chelela, the highest mountain pass between Paro and Haa.  The breathtaking view of Mt. Jhomolhari elevating 7315m high can be clearly viewed from this pass. On the way hike to Kila Nunnery Center and explore the small township of Haa thereafter.   Overnight camp at Yathong.

Day 4 Yangtong/ Khadey Gom: If you prefer to make three night outing, yagthong could be the first campsite if  hotel stay is not planned. Yangtong camp is located in a meadow next to Haa river. There lies a chorten with  flags hoisted in honor of the local protecting deity, the powerful Chhundu. From Yangtong a steep climb (150m) leads to Yangtong Gompa village, set on a hilltop right above camp. The big temple, surrounded by  few houses is about 300 year old and dedicated to Guru Rinpochhe and his eight manifestations.A more or less level trail through pines brings you back to the main trail to the valley below saga la. Here the Makhang Chhu flows through the area called Talung. Talung has three beautiful villages chenka Gom, Tsenka Wom and Langlo-above 80 households in total.The trail winds around farmlands fenced with piles of stones to protect the fields from deer and wild boar. Climb to a wooden bridge, chagdo zam is so named because locals claim that the 14th century saint Thangthong Gyelpo constructed the original one. Cross more meadows and some forest until you reach a rock with twin eyes and a distorted mouth. This is the Neyla Doem or Nyela Demon who was subdued by the saint Thangthong Gyelpo using the sword of Ignorance to slash the demon’s mouth and turn it into a rock.  Since then travelers using this ancient trail have walked in peace without fearing this ferocious demon. This holy rock is located in the Khadey Gom meadow where  camp site for tonight is chosen.

Day 5  Khadey Gom/Dongney Tsho/Dongney Tsho/Saga La: Climbing  over  saga la will be the highlight of today’s trek.  First  gradual hike for an hour through meadows and coniferous w,  followed by two hours climb over the pass. On a clear day fantastic view on both sides of the pass can be seen. The prominent view across  paro includes sacred mount Jhomolhari(7315m), Chaterake(5570m) and below is the valley, the Drugyal Dzong and the sacred Taktsang Monastery. From the pass the trail descends downhill  through the mixed Conifer forest and rhododendrons. Today’s  camp in the  open meadow at Dongney Tsho, surrounded by tall fir vegetation.

Day 6 Dongney Tsho/ Drugyal Dzong: The first part of today’s  hike is steeply downhill for an hour and half hour until you reach the Genchu Zam(bridge). The hike is through thick vegetation, and laughing thrushes, magpies, nutcrackers and pheasants are commonly seen birds. There is a small  village on the left side of the trail and from this village an  hour walk will reach you to Balakha Chhu where the ancient Haa Planter trail ends.  From Balakha, you will be picked up and  driven to your hotel in Paro.

Day 7 Exit: Early see off at exit terminal for your onward voyage.
